Playing together to improve our working relationships

We had a great time seeing old friends and colleagues and meeting new ones in Amelia Island. Emanuel gave a fantastic slide presentation and Derek, Diego, and Geneva presented great posters!

We enjoyed some bonding time grilling and chilling in the backyard with lab members, summer interns, family, and friends.

It was a treat to reconnect with colleagues and collaborators and for Rebecca, Derek, and Emanuel to present their work and get valuable feedback from experts in the field.

We celebrated another year with rotation students and our visiting PhD student from Italy, Andrea Ciorciari.

We reconnected with alumni from nearby and far away despite the first hurrcane in San Diego in over a century!

Teamwork prevailed as we escaped from The Diner at Quicksand Escape Games in Pacific Beach.

During a brief respite from COVID-19 restrictions we got to celebrate Alanna's thesis defense and bid a fond farewell to Xia Jing and Emanuel Irizarry at La Jolla Shores Beach.

Dr. Bernard Kok from the Saez lab made fast friends with the next generation on a camping trip to Joshua Tree.

Celebrating Stephanie's and Anna's theses completion and wishing them well on their next endeavours.

Every December, we have a "Lamia Lab Research Day" that includes scientific presentations by all group members, a lab cleanup and organization, 360-degree evaluations, and a group social activity.

The biennial meeting of the Society for Research in Biological Rhythms (SRBR) is a great opportunity for team building and networking with our international colleagues.

Dinner out with the brave souls who joined my brand new lab and helped establish the whole enterprise. I'm forever grateful to them!
